Dr O’Mahony also believes in volunteering surgical skills and education to countries with more limited facilities. Working as a Surgeon with the international charity Operation Smile, she has volunteered her time and expertise to treat patients with congenital facial deformities such as cleft lip and palate in Vietnam and Cambodia who would otherwise not have access to surgical treatment of their conditions. As well as undertaking these operations she worked with and provided teaching to local Surgeons in treating congenital facial deformities and other reconstructive problems.
Dr O’Mahony understands that consulting a Medical Specialist can sometimes be a daunting prospect so she maintains a welcoming and approachable atmosphere in her practice. She believes it is important for her patients to have sufficient time with her to make an informed decision to undergo surgery and will be happy to consult with her patients as many times as they require before proceeding with surgery.
